Tractor Supply Co. Foundation and Friends of Franklin Parks Renew Sponsorship of Harlinsdale Arena

New five-year deal guarantees youth and community access to equestrian events at historic 200-acre horse farm turned urban park

BRENTWOOD, TN, March 17, 2022–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Six years ago, Tractor Supply Company (NASDAQ: TSCO), the largest rural lifestyle retail chain in the United States, put its power behind a scale in the company’s own backyard: a new multi-purpose equestrian facility at Harlinsdale Farm Park in Franklin, Tennessee. The facility, which was branded “Tractor Supply Co. Arena,” was built by the nonprofit organization Friends of Franklin Parks and opened in late September 2015. Since then, the Arena has hosted thousands of equestrian and community events.

Today, the Tractor Supply Company Foundation renewed its five-year sponsorship commitment to the non-profit organization Friends of Franklin Parks, which operates the arena. The Friends of Franklin Parks plan to continue to use the Tractor Supply Co. Arena not only for horse shows, polo matches and other community events, but also to advance educational partnerships with youth in the community. There has also been an arena refresh – the Tractor Supply Co. arena has been repainted, added new Tractor Supply Co. Foundation logos, and an improved audio system has been added for the upcoming season.

“We are honored to extend our partnership with Friends of Franklin Parks and their work at Harlinsdale Farm Park,” said Mary Winn Pilkington, Tractor Supply Senior Vice President of Investor Relations and Public Relations and President of the Tractor Supply Company Foundation, “Everything we do through the Tractor Supply Company Foundation is to support our passion for living here. It’s so exciting to support the great quality of life and the benefits that the Harlinsdale Farm park provides our local community.”

Founded in 1937, the 200-acre Harlinsdale Farm was a nationally recognized ranching operation for more than 75 years before being acquired by the city of Franklin, placed under a permanent conservation easement and opened as a than passive park. A long-term plan to bring horses back to the historic farm was advanced with the creation of Friends of Franklin Parks in 2011, a public-private partnership designed to leverage corporate and individual support to improve public opportunities in the system of 18 parks.

Working with the City of Franklin Parks Department, the Friends of Franklin Parks broke ground on the arena project in February 2015, raising funds to cover the cost of the eight-acre facility that also includes a stand concession, public washrooms and a 24-barn adjacent to the arena site.

Earlier this year, Friends of Franklin Parks entered into a 25-year lease to operate the arena and restore another site in the park at Harlinsdale Farm. Friends will restore the historic Hayes House and Barn in 2022 which will serve as an educational site for the community to teach farm and horse history, show art and hold events.

“Our community has been strengthened by this public-private partnership, and the Tractor Supply Co. Foundation has made it possible,” said Torrey Barnhill, executive director of Friends of Franklin Parks. “We are very proud of the role our organization has played in creating Harlinsdale, a park where everyone can learn, play, ride and enjoy the outdoors. Friends like Tractor Supply are integral to our mission to preserve, enhance and connect Franklin’s incredible open spaces.”
