The Overseas School of Colombo wins silver at the 36th Annual ARC Awards in New York



Colombo Overseas School celebrates a global accolade as the first Sri Lankan educational institution to holistically cover the wider spectrum of the academic sphere to win a ARC Award.

OSC reached the Silver Medal at 36e ARC Annual Awards (headquarters in New York) for OSC Annual Report 2020/21theme “Our A team brings their A-Game to school”competing in the “Non-profit organization” category.

The prestigious ARC Rewards is recognized as theAnnual Report Oscarsacknowledging the highest credentials in the annual report industry. The international award attracts hundreds of nominations each year, from more than 80 countries around the world. Organized by MerComm Inc., the world’s only independent awards organization dedicated to the communications industry, the ARC Awards were introduced in 1987 to recognize global excellence in annual reports.

Among the nominees for this year’s awards were leading global companies/brands such as Boeing, Abbott, Bank of America, PETRONAS, Walmart, BMW Group, Axiata, Olympus and Alibaba Group, etc.

School‘s director ; Dr. Michelle Kleiss shared his thoughts on this important milestone: “I am very proud of the OSC Annual Report and the recognition we have received from the ARC Awards. Our goal with our school’s annual report has always been to share our school’s story in a transparent way that communicates what we believe in most and what we value most in our community.

Founded in 1957, OSC is the oldest international school in Sri Lanka and is notably the only IB World School in the country. An institution that embraces its mission, vision and values, instilling excellence in holistic education including learning, sports, music, drama, social skills enhancement and networking, art and Moreover.

The OSC has succeeded in creating a unique multicultural ecosystem that includes its students, parents and teachers, all woven into its community fabric that embodies its very motto”Unity in diversityin his philosophy.

The OSC won the silver thanks to a heroic collaborative effort by its “A” team of students, parents and teachers. It is this same united community that has gone through many tests and trials, enduring the challenges posed by the pandemic when it first swept the world.

The school has adapted to the new road ahead in the face of the drastic changes and colossal shifts in the educational climate brought about by the disruptions rendered by COVID-19, and the many obstacles in its wake.

With the spirit of cooperation shared by every individual who is part of the ecosystem, the school was inspired to design a memorable annual report that was sincere, honest and full of pride and integrity.
