St. Xavier College in Jalukie Hosts Graduation Program
Dimapur, July 23 (EMN): A total of 85 students from St. Xavier College, Jalukie under the University of Nagaland were honored during its 15th graduation program held at the college’s auditorium on July 22. Likivi, the first holder of rank 4 in history, and other outstanding students were facilitated by the certification ceremony.
United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Chairman and former Chief Minister TR Zeliang, who was the special guest, commended the college and management for providing quality education over the past years and remarked that an educational institution should not only produce good results, but above all produce a good human being. He added that St. Xavier College has become a brand for consistently producing good results.
Zeliang also urged graduate students to chart the course forward with the responsibility to make a positive impact on society. Quoting a phrase from the Bible, Zeliang urged students to be “salt and light to the world.”
He considered him “lucky” to have been educated in Catholic institutions in Mbaulwa in Peren district and Dibrugarh in Assam.
Referring to the disproportionate ratio of population and government employees in Nagaland, he asked everyone to look beyond white collar jobs and explore the many opportunities available around. To face the world, he said, self-discipline and commitment fueled by hard work will decide his future.
Peren’s Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar shared his life story as an IAS officer and also presented the meritorious awards to students from various batches, while MP Picto Shohe praised the faculty and gave tokens of appreciation.
