Russia School shooting kills 13; A shooter dies himself
Attack on a school in Russia: According to officials, nine people were killed in this incident, including two instructors, two security guards for the school and five young people. According to the Russian Interior Ministry, the incident injured more than 20 people.
In a shooting at a school in the central Russian city of Izhevsk, at least 13 people were murdered, including five children, investigators said on Monday. The Russian Investigative Committee said in a message on Telegram that “nine people were killed because of this crime, including two security guards of the educational institution, two instructors, as well as five young people”. The statement also said the attacker “committed suicide”.
Investigators said the man had no identification on him and was wearing a black top with Nazi emblems and a balaclava.
His identification is now being confirmed, according to detectives.
According to the Russian Interior Ministry, the incident injured more than 20 people.
Alexander Brechalov, the region’s governor, acknowledged “victims and injuries among young people” in a video message outside School No. 88 in Izhevsk.
In the background, medical and rescue personnel could be seen at the site, some of them carrying stretchers as they ran towards the school.
Izhevsk, a city of about 630,000 people, is the regional capital of the Udmurt Republic of Russia and is located about 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) east of Moscow.
