NUS Business School launches Masters Program in Sustainable and Green Finance

SINGAPORE, February 14, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The national university of singapore (NUS) has launched a new Master of Science in Sustainable and Green Finance (MSc SGF) program to train new talent to tackle environmental and sustainability challenges through financial solutions and services. Launched by NUS Business School in collaboration with the Sustainable and Green Finance Institute (SGFIN) at NUS, the MSc SGF program is the first MSc program offered among leading Asian universities that focuses on sustainable and green finance.

Asia needs its own indigenous financial talent with the right institutional knowledge to address environmental and sustainability challenges while balancing necessary economic development. Request for experts in green finance

The International Labor Organization (ILO) has estimated that the green economy could create 24 million jobs worldwide by 2030. According to a report by Bain & Company, Microsoft and that of Singapore Temasek Holdings in 2021, South East Asia alone requires approximately 2 trillion US dollars investment in sustainable infrastructure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The region’s green economy would create an estimated five to six million new jobs by 2030. Graduates of the one-year full-time NUS MSc SGF program will be able to seize these growth opportunities to create a better world.

The program is suitable for interested professionals who wish to contribute to the growth of the business and financial sector by tackling sustainability issues.

Students will learn theories and research on sustainable finance, as well as case studies on Asian businesses and financial markets. They will be trained to identify environmental and business challenges and offer feasible financial services and solutions to real industry problems, such as those related to regulatory reporting, environmental risk management and sustainable investing.
