New Apprenticeship and Southern New Hampshire University Partner on Degree Apprenticeship Program to Meet Demand for U.S. Tech Talent

San Antonio, Texas, Jan. 27, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — New Apprenticeship (NEW), a federally registered technology learning program, is partnering with Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) to expand opportunities for learning and education across the United States. NEW and SNHU hope to provide employers with a credentialing learning path and meet the need for skilled and scalable technology talent.

NEW’s fully integrated learning model, combined with SNHU’s higher education pathway, will allow employers to find personalized talent and apprentices to earn credits towards a bachelor’s degree during their admission to the SNHU. Apprenticeships are not traditional in the United States and often end up being lost in the middle of university studies. Rather than waiting for candidates to graduate from college, the NEW model that uses SNHU’s graduate programs gives employers quick access to candidates while they’re still earning their bachelor’s degree. Degree-based learning encourages retention by arranging a journey for new hires that allows them to grow, learn, and achieve milestones during their early-career journey. This allows companies to retain talent until graduation while reaping the benefits of apprentices continuing their education and building their relevant skills.

The partnership aims to achieve many additional goals, including greater accessibility to apprenticeship grant funding, sustained support for employers with fully integrated talent pools, as well as increased employer partner retention through apprenticeships. full time for 12 months. NEW and SNHU are committed to providing opportunity to underserved populations and to having a positive social impact on communities.

“The partnership with the SNHU is an important opportunity for our apprentices. Not only do we equip them with the relevant certifications and necessary work experience, but we empower them to get that much closer to earning their undergraduate degree. NEW is truly a complete path to success on all fronts – professionally and academically,” says Anastasia Apostol, Vice President of Operations.

NEW continues to experience success in deepening the skills development of technology talent through its customized curriculum and industry-demanded certification pathways (from pre-apprenticeship to DOL registered apprenticeship training). Their unique model has placed a diverse workforce with employers like Infosys, a global IT consulting firm, and Black Rifle Coffee Company, a veteran-owned and operated coffee company based in Salt Lake City, UT. SNHU offers more than 200 career-focused programs and is the nation’s largest nonprofit online higher education institution.

NEW and SNHU aim to keep costs to a minimum in order to break down the barriers preventing individuals from pursuing higher education and/or vocational training. SNHU has frozen online courses since 2012, and NEW offers programs at no cost to apprentices and low cost to employers. With available grants, employers can access more affordable continuing education for apprentices joining their teams. Together, NEW and SNHU are dedicated to opening up opportunities for underrepresented talent seeking a successful career in technology. Employers interested in learning more about this opportunity can contact the NEW team directly.

“At SNHU, we recognize the importance of on-the-job training initiatives and what it means to learn, apply and master new skills for the demands of the workplace,” says Jeremy Owens, Vice -Associate President, University Partnerships at SNHU. “With NEW apprenticeships, we can better support employers looking to train their workforce and acquire new talent to meet the needs of a changing economy.”
