MVCC Center of Excellence for Leadership Wins CEANY Award

UTICA – The Center for Leadership Excellence at Mohawk Valley Community College, as well as the Griffiss Institute, have won the James C. Hall Program: Outstanding Business / Organization Collaboration award as part of their Summer Professional Development Institute, which aims to train leaders ready to make an impact as they enter the workforce.

The award was presented at the James C. Hall Exemplary Program Awards Ceremony Nov. 18 at the Continuing Education Association of New York (CEANY) Annual Conference in Saratoga Springs.

Through the Griffiss Institute Internship Program, interns who are currently undergraduate and graduate students at 81 colleges and universities across the country are connected to summer employment at the Air Force Research Lab.

As these individuals progress through their internship, the Griffiss Institute promoted the Summer Professional Development Institute and called on CLE to facilitate trainings in which students sharpened their personal brand and skills. in public speaking, developed tools to engage audiences and networked with innovators and regional influencers. learn first-hand the important role leadership plays in community development and economic and workforce development.

Thanks to the work of the Griffiss Institute, eight of the interns over the past three years have received job offers and have moved to the Mohawk Valley or been retained in the area instead of leaving their hometown in search of a job. career. after graduation. This greatly increases the leadership capacity of the local workforce and contributes to the economic development of our community, officials said.
