How the Red Crescent touches the lives of old and young in Cizre, Turkey


Overview

Turkey’s south-eastern border district has gone through many difficult times due to the PKK terrorist campaign. But the Red Crescent Volunteer Center inspires people to have hope.

Cizre, a former border town next to the Tigris, one of the great rivers in the Middle East, has survived numerous unrest, including PKK terrorism between 2015 and 2016. Townspeople had to navigate its way. tactic of digging trenches and ditches across the district.

Five years later, the southeastern district bordering both Syria and Iraq is doing better thanks to humanitarian projects and support programs from the Turkish Red Crescent Volunteer Center.

Here are some photos showing the efforts of the humanitarian group to improve the quality of life in Cizre, which is a city mostly populated by Kurds.

The Volunteer Center has a large library, which stores over 2,500 books, all of which have been donated by government institutions or individuals.
