Report highlights company achievements in 2021 and outlines three-year goals and commitments

HORSHAM, Pa., June 14, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Bimbo Bakeries USA (BBU) today released its 2021 Diversity, Equity and Belonging Report, Oyour Membership Foundation. It highlights BBU’s 2021 achievements in its workforce, workplace and market strategic framework and outlines three-year goals and commitments. Bimbo Bakeries USA is proud to be part of Grupo Bimbo, the world’s largest bakery company, which is committed to advancing diversity, equity and belonging in the 33 countries where it operates.

BBU’s 2021 Diversity, Equity and Belonging Report recognizes the work accomplished since the creation of a Diversity, Equity and Belonging function in early 2021. Highlights of the report include:

  • Racial Equity Action Council (REAC): In 2021, BBU’s REAC influenced the company’s efforts to renew people’s practices, create a culture of belonging and promote racial equity in our communities.

  • Recruitment improvements: BBU has expanded its various roster requirements to include gender and racial diversity, and added its Diversity, Equity and Belonging Manager to recruitment strategy and candidate debriefing meetings.

  • Related development: All salaried associates are now required to complete at least 1.5 hours of Racial Equity Strategy Training (REST) ​​per year to continue BBU’s commitment to educating its associates on topics related to its strategy of diversity, equity and belonging.

  • Marketing: To reflect the market it serves, BBU is committed to ensuring diversity and equity in its marketing, by inviting BBU’s Racial Equity Action Council into the marketing asset review process of the company.

  • Community partnerships: In 2021, the company invested $1 million in national and local organizations dedicated to improving the education, financial well-being, and health of Black and minority Americans.

  • Supplier diversity: BBU has introduced a Supplier Diversity Program to partner with suppliers with diverse experience, perspectives and backgrounds.
