Six more cases of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus were detected in Karnataka, bringing the state total to fourteen on Saturday. Of these, one is a passenger from the United Kingdom, while five others have been detected at two educational institutions in the Dakshina Kannada district.

At one facility in the Bantwal area of ​​the district, four teenage students with no immediate history of overseas travel were infected with the Omicron variant. No fewer than 13 students – out of the 282 primary and secondary contacts of the four girls infected with Omicron – have tested positive for Covid, the Karnataka disease surveillance unit reported.

Meanwhile, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) clarified on Saturday that no decision had been taken on the mandatory institutional quarantine of international travelers from “high risk” countries.
