9 9 VISA Sat. 9 4 Dr. Philip Drucker dies at 71 UK anthropologist was widely known Associated Press LEXINGTON, Ky. The funeral for Dr. Philip Drucker, an internationally known cultural anthropologist who retired from the University of Kentucky in 1976, will be tomorrow.
Drucker, who died at his home Sunday, was 71. He wrote 14 books and monographs and was an authority on the Indian culture of the Northwest coast and on the cultural history of Mexico. also served as assistant curatucker the U.S. National Museum and spent several years with the Bureau of American Ethnology in the Smithsonian Institution. In 1955 he returned to the study of Mexican cultural history and established a cattle ranch in Veracruz, Mexico.
He came back to the United States in 1967 to accept the UK post. Most recently he had been conducting research in Robertson County for the National Institute for Aging.
