PS3 - 4.89 Evilnat CFW w/ Cobra v8.3 (CEX) (+ noBD /noBT builds) (2024)

Following the success of 4.88 Evilnat CFW. well known PS3 developer @Evilnat is at it again with a new Custom Firmware Release for 4.89 with the release of Ps3 CFW 4.89 Evilnat Cobra (8.3) (CEX) , following the official firmware update from Sony last week. This CEX based firmware comes packed with the Cobra 8.3 injected into the firmware (making this a Cobra CFW).There is tons of features packed into this firmware that coming from a top tier of developer's who has a strong reputation in the PS3 Homebrew / Hacking scene. The developer did not forget about the damage console with noBD / noBT builds of the Custom firmware also available Checkout all the details below.

PS3HEN, BG Toolset and HFW Official releases are also coming soon from their respective creators , but be patient as important test are being conducted and BEWARE of unofficial releases (of PS3HEN/HFW) there has been some attempts emerging that may encounter issues from improper creations and untested attempts, best to wait for the creator's of these methods to be released with the latest version, Stay tuned for those incoming if you do not have a CFW enabled PS3 model then look out soon for PS3HEN and HFW.   Not all PS3 Console's have the ability to install a Custom Firmware.
  
  • All PS3 FAT Models CAN install a PS3 CFW
  • All PS3 SuperSlim Models CAN NOT install a PS3 CFW
  • Now is you have a PS3 Slim is going to depend on which model as early production models can where as later models can not.
  
  So how can you tell for sure?
  
  • One of the quickest and easiest ways is from your PS3's Internet Browser
    (if your PS3 is connected to the internet) and goto the following URL: ** www.** ** www.ps3xploit.net > D... (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com)/bgtoolset/ with this link it will tell you if your PS3 is CFW Compatible. If so, that is also the link that actually exploits the PS3 and provides the ability to install a CFW PUP.

  Update - Unofficial Overclocked Build
  Since the release of 4.89 Evilnat Cobra CFW, user's have been asking for an Overclocked version. Recently there have been some advancements that are still experimental that allows overclocking of the RSX which can help FPS in some games and increase slightly some loading times,. but again they are experimental and if your console is prone to heat then overclocking is not suggested for your console.
