What is the highest distinction at Iupui? ›

A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 must have been achieved. Three levels of distinction will be recognized and determined as follows: 3.50 through 3.74-Distinction; 3.75 through 3.89-High Distinction; 3.90 through 4.00-Highest Distinction.

The IU Physician Assistant program minimum requirements are a 3.0 cumulative GPA, a 3.0 science and math GPA, and no grade lower than a C in any required pre-requisite course - any applicant who does not meet all of these requirements will be rejected without review.

If you are graduating with Distinction, High Distinction, or Highest Distinction, you are entitled to wear fourragères: cream and crimson cords for IU graduates, black and gold for Purdue graduates. The fourragères are provided by the university as a gift to you.

Graduation cords, also known as honor cords, are colorful strands of braided cord with tassels at each end, worn around the neck of a graduating student. These cords are symbols of academic or extracurricular distinction. They're not given to all students, but they must be earned.

Like summiting a mountain, the student who has achieved summa cum laude has achieved "the highest distinction." This student has earned grades within the highest percentage of their school or department or has achieved some other metric that the school considers worthy of the highest recognition.

Minimum GPAs are 3.7 for distinction, 3.8 for high distinction, and 3.9 for highest distinction. You must have a minimum of 60 graded credit hours at IU to be considered for a degree with distinction.

Summa cum laude, which means "with highest honor," is the highest academic award designated for students in the top 1-5% of a class or those with a GPA of 3.9-4.0.
